A video released over the weekend shows SpaceX’s Starlink rectangular terminal, as it’s trimmed down to become more power-efficient.

A video shared by MikeOnSpace on Sunday showed a teardown of the latest rectangular Starlink terminal, in which the host, Mike, makes it into a low-power panel.

The video begins with Mike showing what he did to the round “Dishy McFlatFace” terminal, which he says he plans to use for portable needs such as camping, RV life and driving.

He also notes that he previously released a video using the compact round terminal on top of a moving car, after making it a little smaller and more lightweight.

The host goes on to unbox the terminal, then compares its weight and size to the old dish before separating the front and back panels of the dish. We also get a closer look at the honeycomb structure of the dish, that was previously teased by one owner after seeing melting snow on the terminal.

While Mike stops short of testing the dish in the video, we can see him talk through how he plans to teardown the panel to make it lighter overall and with higher power efficiency.

SpaceX’s Starlink has made several headlines recently for its delivery of hardware and satellite internet to the defense against Russia in Ukraine.

You can see Mike’s full discussion and low-power conversion of the new rectangular Starlink terminal in the video below.

SpaceX has reportedly sent about 5,000 Starlink terminals to Ukraine, to assist the country in fighting the invasion from neighboring Russia.
