Tesla’s Giga Berlin Can Start Production, Operating Permit Granted: Email
Tesla says it has received its operating permit for its new Gigafactory at Berlin-Brandenburg, in Germany. The news comes from an email from Tesla to the Giga Berlin team.
The email was obtained and shared by Tesla insider @SawyerMerrit.
“We officially received our operating permit: This also enables us to start production and to deliver cars to our customers. What a milestone in our young history. We should be hugely proud,” explains the email.
Tesla says the first cars will deliver “next Tuesday”, which would be March 22, 2022, at its Model Y delivery event, set to also include factory tours for new owners.
“As already announced in several emails, we are going to celebrate this event with you straight after shift end at 3:00pm. We are looking forward to seeing you there,” concludes the Tesla email, which you can read below in its entirety:
Dear Giga Berlin Team
Yesterday was a huge day for our Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. We officially received our operating permit: This also enables us to start production and to deliver cars to our customers. What a milestone in our young history. We should be hugely proud. Congratulations and thank you to all that helped to get us here. Great team spirit. And of course, we wouldn’t be Tesla if we would not continue working at full speed and already start delivering the first cars to our customers next Tuesday. This is going to be a memorable moment and the entire world will watch. As already announced in several emails, we are going to celebrate this event with you straight after shift end at 3:00pm. We are looking forward to seeing you there.
Thank you for your continued hard work
Initial Model Y compact crossover SUVs made at Giga Berlin will include battery packs with 2170 cells, instead of the latest 4680 structural battery packs set to debut at Giga Texas.
