Tesla Launches ‘Tesla Drop’ After-Hours Pickup Option for Deliveries in Germany

Tesla has launched a new delivery option in Germany called “Tesla Drop,” which allows customers to pick their cars up from their designated delivery centers after hours, Tesla owner and enthusiast @tesla_adri reported in a Friday tweet.

Tesla has reportedly started informing customers in Germany of the option via text message. Customers who want to opt for Tesla Drop Delivery can inform the company, after which a Tesla Advisor will get in touch with them to guide them through the self-pickup process.

According to the text message, picking up your Tesla with Drop Delivery is as simple as making your way over to your designated Tesla Delivery Center, unlocking your car via the Tesla app on your phone, and documenting and confirming the pickup in your Tesla Account in the Tesla app.

An after-hours self-pickup option for deliveries appears to be yet another benefit of Tesla’s direct-to-consumer sales model, which has even been recognized by veteran German automaker Volkswagen.

Whether “Tesla Drop” will eventually make its way to other markets remains to be seen.

Tesla’s Berlin-Brandenburg Gigafactory in Germany received final approval to start production earlier this month. On Wednesday, Tesla began sending out employee invites to a Delivery Day event at Giga Berlin, slated for March 22.
