According to Tesla insider @SawyerMerritt, the electric automaker’s Gigafactory in Berlin has produced over 1,000 Model Y vehicles to date, as per information provided by an unnamed source.
“I hear daily output is increasing fast and quality is great,” said Merritt on Thursday. “Still awaiting government approval to start official production and deliveries to customers,” he added. He then shared a picture showing a VIN reportedly from Giga Berlin, showing the number ‘1000’ at the end.
Currently, Giga Berlin is still awaiting government approval for the factory and is awaiting an upcoming March court decision regarding its water supply at the site.
The first Model Y vehicles from Giga Berlin will contain 2170 battery cells, and not the newest 4680 structural battery packs set for Giga Texas.
As for Giga Texas, Teslarati reports the Model Y is just one EPA approval away from its first deliveries.
