Ford F-150 Lightning App Leaks Remote Control Parking Feature, Copying Tesla
After Ford made the decision to tweak cars on an ongoing basis like Tesla, new images from the company’s app have leaked suggesting that it might not be the only Tesla feature it’s planning to poach.
Ford’s FordPass Connect app was updated late last month to include images of what appears to be a remote parking feature for the F-150 Lightning, according to electrek.
The images are labeled “freeDrive,” and they make it look like drivers will be able to drive their vehicles into or out of parking spots.
While the feature was spotted on the iOS app, it’s likely that Android users will gain the feature too at some point.
The feature also must be opened using a circular unlock to prevent accidentally activating the remote parking function.
The American automaker recently admitted it had lowered the build cost of its Mustang Mach-E by $1,000, by integrating efficiencies and changes, similar to what Tesla does constantly for its vehicles.
Earlier this month, Ford also said it hopes to follow Tesla into the world of police cruisers with the Mustang Mach-E, and Ann Arbor, Michigan police were already set to add a Mach-E to their fleet as of last January.
In addition, Michigan State Police are already conducting trials of the Ford Mustang Mach-E.
