Tesla Model Y Fleet Unveils Washington Commanders Name Change
One NFL team has a new name, and the freshly-renamed Washington Commanders are apparently using electric vehicles (EVs) to promote their new merchandise and team.
Tesla Model Y units sporting the new NFL team’s name and branding were seen leaving the stadium to hand out Washington Commanders merch around DC, Maryland and Virginia, as shown in a video shared by @AdamSchefter.
The video depicts a total of nine Tesla Model Y units with “Washington Commanders” printed on the side as they exit the stadium to begin making merch deliveries.

These Tesla Model Y vehicles were spotted last month as well near Gaithersburg, but without the ‘Washington Commanders’ name along the side of vehicles.

The team’s Wednesday announcement has revealed a new name that took over a year of search. The previous name ‘Redskins’ has long been considered degrading and racist towards Native Americans. Back in the summer of 2020, sponsors threatened to pull out over the previous moniker.
