This software update will remove the ‘rolling stop’ feature for Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta testers, as the automaker voluntarily recalled the feature, after concerns from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The ‘rolling stop’ feature allowed FSD beta testers to ‘roll through’ stop signs, instead of coming to a complete stop, mimicking some human driver behaviour. Some complaints to the NHTSA forced Tesla to remove the feature and voluntarily issue a ‘safety recall’, affecting its nearly 60,000 FSD beta test fleet in the United States.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk explained the issue today, saying, “Indeed, there were no safety issues. The car simply slowed to ~2 mph & continued forward if clear view with no cars or pedestrians.”
He’s actually a lobbyist, not a journalist. There are many who pose as the latter while behaving like the former. No integrity.
