Tesla iOS App Bug Fixed to Show Range Added in Miles Again, Instead of Kilometers
Tesla on Friday updated its iOS app to version 4.4.3, which includes a fix for a rather silly but egregiously distressful bug that caused range added during a user’s last charging session to be displayed in km instead of miles inside the app (via Reddit user camthehombre), for users that have miles set as their preference.
Affected users would see charging range added in km, despite the user having their preferences set to display distances in miles. What makes the bug silly is the fact that the distance being displayed would actually be accurate, in miles, but the app would simply be displaying the wrong unit.
Some are saying although the bug has been fixed and miles are now properly showing, the added range estimates aren’t accurate still.
The issue had been plaguing the mobile app since the last update, which was version 4.4.2 in late December. Version 4.4.2 also introduced a mobile trip planner, including the ability to search for and select waypoints from a driver’s mobile device — but only for China.
Users had been regularly complaining about the issue across multiple platforms, and the Friday update appears to have fixed it, going by almost as many accounts.
Now, if only Tesla could quickly do something about Model 3/Y heat pumps constantly failing in colder climates — the company last week confirmed that to be a “firmware” issue as well.
