Volkswagen to Reveal its ‘ID Buzz’ Electric Van on March 9, Says CEO
The Volkswagen ID Buzz electric vehicle (EV) is expected to hit U.S. markets in 2023, and as of this week, a reveal date for the concept has officially been shared with the public.
Volkswagen is set to reveal the VW ID Buzz on March 9, according to a post from CEO @Herbert Diess on Thursday that was reported by CNET.
The post included an animation of a concept drawing for Volkswagen’s ID Buzz, with Diess saying “The legend returns on 03/09/22!”

The date was also confirmed with a Volkswagen PR Spokesperson who validated Diess’s claim.
While Diess didn’t include details as to how Volkswagen would be revealing the ID Buzz microbus, the Geneva Auto Show which usually takes place in March has been cancelled for 2022 – so the company may elect to unveil the EV in an online streamed event of some sort instead.
Last month, Volkswagen also announced the ID Buzz California Camper variant of the microbus, which will include a pop-up roof, seats that fold into a bed and maybe even a kitchen.
The ID Buzz will include a base model featuring rear-wheel drive and 200 horsepower, with Volkswagen eventually expected to release a higher-range 300 horsepower variant.
Pricing, range and other details about the ID Buzz electric microbus aren’t yet clear, though they’re likely to be announced alongside other features of the vehicle’s March 9 announcement.
