Tesla Model 3, Model Y ‘Cooling Seats’ for Driver and Passenger Mentioned in Manuals [PICS]
The latest Tesla Model 3 and Model Y owner’s manuals include mention of cooled front driver and passenger seats, suggesting the option may be coming soon, notes @Teslascope (via @EndlessPlaid).
“The seat icon displays twisting lines that turn red (heating) or blue (cooling) to corresponding with the set level. Auto, which displays when the climate control system is set to Auto, warms or cools the front seats based on cabin temperature,” explains the Model 3 and Model Y manual, in the section ‘Climate Controls’ under ‘Using the Touchscreen’.
The manual references both driver and passenger control icons as supporting both heating and cooling.
The manual section on Climate Popup shows an image of the heated seats icon, plus the text “Cool” beside it. “Enable or disable heated or cooling seats (if equipped)”, says the manual.
Currently, Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y only included heated seats, as ventilated cooled seats are reserved for the company’s flagship Model S and Model X vehicles.
Do you think cooled seats are coming soon for the Model 3 and Model Y? If anything, these new features might again debut first in China, as we’ve seen with the recent launches of AMD Ryzen, rear acoustic glass and more. If they do launch soon, it’ll be interesting to see if a retrofit option will become available.
