California Agency Asks EV Drivers for Input on Public Charging Experience

After an August J.D. Power survey ranked Tesla’s Superchargers as the top in public charging, one California agency is asking electric vehicle (EV) owners to respond to a new survey about charging and payments.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is asking EV drivers for their thoughts on public charging, payment and overall convenience, in a short survey shared by the organization on Monday.

The survey asks a variety of questions surrounding how users charge their EVs, whether at home or in public, and how users pay for their charging sessions – especially regarding chip cards and contactless payment methods like tap to pay.

Users wanting to reply to the survey must do so by Friday, December 10 in order for their responses to be considered.

A filing with CARB earlier this year revealed that Tesla’s Long Range Rear-Wheel-Drive Model Y variant might come back to market, despite the vehicle currently being offered in China.

While the charging infrastructure remains one of the biggest barriers to mainstream EV adoption, Tesla is set to help with the problem by opening its Supercharger network up to other EV brands – a shift that has already begun in the Netherlands.
