Tesla Owner Keycards to Work with Hertz Model 3 Rentals, Confirms Elon Musk

Hertz announced on Monday it would start electrifying its rental fleet by ordering 100,000 Tesla Model 3 electric vehicles, set to be delivered by the end of 2022. The deal is said to be worth about $4.2 billion dollars, according to Bloomberg.

As for how existing Tesla owners can rent Hertz vehicles? The company’s website is already listing where you can rent Tesla Model 3 from the Hertz fleet, while CEO Elon Musk has confirmed a major feature that should appeal to existing Tesla owners.

Kim Paquette (@kimpaquette) asked Musk earlier today, “so we walk up to our Hertz rental with our keycard, and the car is automatically configured to our driver profile and settings?”, to which the CEO responded, “that feature is coming”.

The announcement of Hertz adopting an EV fleet from Tesla similarly resulted in numerous supporters and owners of the automaker pledge their allegiance to Hertz as well. The Hertz website already has listed Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus vehicles for rent, such as with Los Angeles, California as seen below, for this Model 3 with 418km (259 miles):
