Tesla has changed delivery dates for its entry Model Y in the United States, as estimated delivery dates are now showing July 2022, a whopping nine months from now (via @SawyerMerritt).
If you want to get your Model Y Long Range faster, that’s easy, pony up some extra money for 20-inch Induction wheels, and you’ll see your car deliver in April 2022, three months sooner.
The Model Y Performance is still showing estimated delivery for December 2021, and being the most expensive version of the compact crossover electric SUV, it makes sense these would get priority.
In Canada, estimated delivery dates for the Long Range entry Model Y is still set at April, and Performance at December.
Over the past 24 hours, Tesla’s website has been busy:
- Cybertruck pricing and specs options removed until 2022
- Entry Model 3 sees $2,000 CAD price increase in Canada
- Premium Connectivity trials change to 30 days for Model 3 and Model Y (before it was 1-year for Long Range, Performance versions)
The significant gap in delivery times suggests Tesla is still dealing with the global semiconductor shortage and also supply chain parts pressures, while also seeing intense demand. The company set a record Q3 with over 241,000 vehicle deliveries. It will be reporting Q3 2021 earnings on October 20, 2021.
