Unplugged Performance driver @Craig Coker set a new Tesla Model 3 lap record at Laguna Seca Raceway on August 1, with an impressive time of 1:35.670. The Model 3 was outfitted with a Tesla Corsa body kit build, as modified by the Unplugged Performance team.

The record outpaces the previous Tesla Model 3 lap record, as set by fellow Unplugged Performance driver Randy Pobst for a time of 1:35.79. In addition to beating out Pobst’s Model 3 record, the time comes close to a number of internal combustion engine (ICE) lap records – many of which were also set by Pobst.

Coker’s Model 3 time beat out Pobst’s times in a Ferrari 458 Italia (1:36.22) and a Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 S (1:36.26), and it also came close to Pobst’s records in a Porsche 911 Carrera S (1:35.52), a Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S (1:35.57), a Porsche 911 Turbo S (1:35.62) and a Corvette Grand Sport (1:35.62) – among others still.

On the same day, Pobst set an overall electric vehicle (EV) lap record in a Tesla Model S Plaid for an impressive time of 1:28.213. The Model 3’s record is one of the variant’s more recent pieces of news since the release of the Model S Plaid – largely considered one of the world’s quickest cars – which took place at a Tesla Plaid Delivery Event in July.
