In a recently published video on YouTube, Tesla Plaid Channel pits his new Tesla Model S Plaid against a Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 Spyder All-Wheel Drive in a drag race. Well, if you can call what ensued a “race”, that is.
The $140,000 USD all-electric sedan absolutely crushed the $238,000+ USD luxury sports car, posting a 1/4 mile time of 10.990 seconds. Accounting for the drivers’ reaction times, the Model S Plaid beat the Lamborghini by 0.305 seconds.
And this was despite the Model S driver lifting their foot completely off the accelerator at multiple points throughout the quarter mile, and all but trolling the Lambo driver down the track.
The Model S Plaid could have easily posted a 1/4 mile time over 1.5 seconds faster had the driver gone all out. However, he had previously been warned by drag strip management not to do a 1/4 mile in under 10 seconds, or else risk being kicked out, as the Tesla was not equipped with a roll cage or parachute.
Last month, the Tesla Model S Plaid broke its own record for fastest 1/4 mile time in a production car, posting a stunning 9.08 seconds. That’s 0.15 seconds lower than Tesla’s own 1/4 mile time rating for the vehicle.
