Tesla Cybertruck Production Officially Delayed, as Website Now Mentions 2022

Tesla cybertruck 2022 production

Tesla has updated its website to note Cybertruck production has been officially delayed to 2022.

Previously, the website noted production would start in late 2021, but that is no longer the case, notes @SawyerMerritt.

During Tesla’s Q2 earnings call and shareholder slide deck, the company noted Cybertruck production would start after the Model Y at its Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.

Considering Model Y production is set to being in late 2021 at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Austin, it’s no surprise we’re seeing a date change on Cybertruck production.

Tesla’s Cybertruck has so far unofficially surpassed over 1 million pre-orders, based on this reservation tracker.

Last month, a patent surfaced revealing more about the Cybertruck’s design. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has praised the Cybertruck’s design, saying it is “made by aliens from the future”.

While traditional automakers race to unleash their electric trucks, there’s no rush for Tesla to release the Cybertruck just yet, as Musk and company hold the cards to the truck close to its chest. Given the global chip shortage and also in Tesla’s supply chain, plus battery constraints, it’s not surprising Cybertruck will be coming out later than expected.
