Wawa Builds its 50th Electric Vehicle Charging Station
Wawa convenience stores shared plans to expand its electric vehicle (EV) charging network earlier this year, and in a press release earlier this week, the company has announced its 50th EV charging site across the six states it currently operates out of.
The milestone was celebrated by Wawa with the opening of its most recent store, located in Crystal River, Florida, also marking the first store to open with live EV charging available from the start – nearly all of the company’s other EV charging locations were added to stores that had already existed, with the exceptions of locations in Vienna, Virginia and Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

The company also recently was spotted offering curbside pickup at one of its Tesla Supercharger stations, while patrons wait for their EVs to charge.
Wawa’s first EV charging station opening in 2017 at the company’s first store. Now, the company has Tesla Superchargers at 47 locations, with three other locations including CCS and CHAdeMO chargers. The company expects to surpass 1,000,000 EV charging sessions to date by the end of May.
Chief Real Estate and Fuel Officer at Wawa Brian Schaller said, “Wawa is proud to reach its 50th site hosting EV charging to date, with the purpose of providing “boundless convenience.” Schaller continued, “Our continued growth demonstrates our commitment to innovation, sustainability and our continued desire to meet the needs of our customers.”
