Tesla FSD Beta v8.3 Coming End of Next Week with ‘Download Beta’ Button, Says Elon Musk

On the weekend, Tesla CEO Elon Musk teased a new ‘download beta’ button was coming to owner vehicles with Full Self-Driving, to enable them to participate in the latter’s beta program.

Now, Musk has clarified how the ‘download beta’ will actually work. Responding to @WholeMarsBlog on early Tuesday morning, when asked if the button would put someone in line to try the beta, or actually download the software right away, Musk answered, “Assuming user approves warning & agrees to drive carefully, it will download latest QA-tested FSD “Beta” build as soon as car connects to wifi.”

Tesla’s FSD beta allows the vehicle to commute from one destination to another, without any driver interventions.

Musk followed up to say, “Build 8.3 of FSD should be done QA testing by end of next week, so that’s roughly when download button should show up.”

The Tesla CEO said on the weekend the addition of the ‘download beta’ button was due to “high levels of demand for FSD beta”. He had asked people to email the company if they were interested in signing up for FSD beta.

With FSD beta version 8.3, Musk said the program could possibly expand participant numbers ten-fold.

“Tesla AI, both hardware & software, is deeply underestimated,” said Musk last week.

As for the ‘download beta’ button for Tesla owners in Europe? Musk said “we will ask the regulators.”

Just yesterday, ARK Invest founder Cathie Wood, said her company had increased its confidence in Tesla, which it believes will win the lion’s share of autonomous taxi fleet profits in the future.
