Earlier this month, Tesla started delivering its Model Y compact SUV with new headlights in California, but now we’re also seeing the new design make its way up north to Canada. Many have asked when this would reach Canada and now we’re starting to see more owners share the new headlight design with their deliveries.
According to Paul E. From the Tesla Model Y Canadian Group on Facebook, he picked up his new Model Y Performance with his wife today. He had placed his order on January 17, 2021.
“Wow better than expected. Heated steering wheel check, console will require a wrap, had snow tires installed today. Can anyone tell me if I have the new or old headlights? Only defect was a bit of condensation in the tail lights. Had a fantastic day driving around. Very satisfied,” said Paul.
You can tell from the image above he does indeed have the new headlights design, which Tesla previously said would be showing on all new Model 3 and Model Y units by Q1 2021.
You can see the new design has a projector headlamp in the corner, which does not appear on the old design.

These new headlights are also on Tesla’s Model 3—you can see a demo of them in action below:
Eventually, all Model Y deliveries should have the new center console found in the Model 3, plus also a HEPA filter, first seen on the Model Y in China.
