Your Starlink Internet Might Be Seeing ‘Much Higher’ Download Speeds Right Now

If you’re a SpaceX Starlink internet user, you may be seeing some faster download speeds starting today.

That’s because according to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, system upgrades are being tested, as of Thursday.

“You might see much higher download speeds on Starlink at times. Testing system upgrades,” said Musk on Thursday evening.

As for when Starlink internet will reach San Francisco’s Bay area? Musk said, “Probably mid year, but Starlink is really meant for those who are least served. Bay usually has great Internet.”

One active Starlink beta tester, @keith_dorschner, shared two Fast.com speed tests and instantly saw a faster download test result, which may have been a fluke, but was oddly timed to Musk’s tweet.

Musk previously stated Starlink satellite internet download speeds are set to double to about 300 Mbps by the end of the year.

This Sunday, SpaceX is planning to launch 60 more Starlink satellites into space, building on its constellation which sits at over 1,100 in space.
