The federal government of Canada has announced Brock University in the province of Ontario, is set to get 20 new electric vehicle chargers, as part of a $235,000 CAD ($185,340 USD) investment.
Natural Resources Canada’s Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program will fund the new EV chargers, part of the government’s goal to have all new passenger cars as zero-emission by 2040.
“Investments in green infrastructure help Ontarians make greener choices, improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We are proud to support Brock University’s efforts to provide students, employees and residents with more transportation options,” said Chris Bittle, Member of Parliament, St. Catharines, in a statement.
The government says the investment “will encourage the adoption of zero-emission vehicles by providing Ontarians with more options to charge their vehicles where they live, work and play.”
