Tesla Lowers Model 3 Prices in Germany and France
The Tesla Model 3 is the world’s top-selling electric vehicle (EV) thus far, and according to a post on Reddit, Tesla’s Model 3 just received price drops in Germany for all variants.
The post, as shared by Reddit user u/_airmax, includes the new pricing, which now has the EV starting at €39,900 for the Standard Range Plus, and at €49,990 and €54,990 for the Long Range All-Wheel Drive and Performance Models, respectively.
With the inclusion of a German government subsidy, the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus is now available for €33,990, while the Long Range All-Wheel Drive edition can be purchased starting at €43,990. The Performance Model, alternatively, now starts out at €48,990 with the government subsidy.
So just confusion about terminology, Tesla apparently did two recent pricing changes in Germany:
➡️ They absorbed a 3% VAT increase by keeping the Model 3 SR prices at €41,900 on January 1.
➡️ Tesla further reduced the price by -7% by dropping it to €39,990 today.Correct?

The price drops are likely related to the price of the dollar having dropped about 10% in the last year, making the Euro worth a little bit more than before. France also saw pricing decreases on the same scale.
An MIT study recently compared the lifetime cost of owning a Model 3 to that of a Nissan Altima, despite the fact that an Altima costs so much less upfront than a Model 3. This just goes to show the significance of an EV compared to a gas engine – likely to continue improving in the years to come.
Price drops are the perfect time to jump on the Tesla train, especially for new EV owners who may be able to receive extra subsidies for trading in old gas cars. And with the Model 3 price down by such a wide margin in Germany and France, it’d be a worthwhile investment for anyone.
