Tesla FSD Beta 10: Cyclist Interactions and Falcon 9 Launch Trail [VIDEO]
Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta has been out for a few months now, and the improvements the autonomous driving system has already made in that span of time are impressive.
On Wednesday, Chuck Cook posted a new video on YouTube, depicting a short commute to his work using the FSD beta with a very safe cyclist interaction, and a long trail in the sky from the SpaceX Falcon 9 Starlink launch this morning.
The video shares a number of notable traffic situations, and begins with an impressive exiting of a parking lot – something Autopilot often struggles to define and accomplish.
As the Tesla Model Y approaches a cyclist in the bike lane, it actually moves itself to the left, giving the biker extra space in the lane. While human drivers aren’t even this courteous to cyclists all the time, Tesla’s FSD has an awfully aware detection system and demeanor towards cyclists and other pedestrians.
In the entire drive, Cook doesn’t have to intervene a single time, allegedly marking his very first zero-intervention drive in a Tesla. While there are a few points along the way where Cook almost has to take control, the Model Y manages to keep itself in check long enough to avoid any interventions.
