Tesla Full Self-Driving 3-Month Trials Activated for New Owners [PICS]
Tesla offered a last-minute incentive during the final days of 2020 to push for deliveries, offering a free 3-month trial to Full Self-Driving (FSD) for new owners. This freebie may have helped the company achieve its goal of surpassing 500,000 cars built in a single year.
Now, we’re seeing new Tesla owners share 3-month FSD trials activated. According to @raffaeru based in Austria, their delivered Model 3 on December 30, 2020, started showing the activated FSD trial as of January 3, 2021.
“The FSD trial got activated!” said Raffael on the weekend. In the image below, you can see numerous toggles enabled for FSD, including “Full Self-Driving Visualization Preview”. This view shows what FSD looks like, as you’ve seen from FSD beta videos.
Also part of the FSD suite is Autosteer, Navigate on Autopilot, Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control, Summon, Autopark and Auto Lane Change. These are showing as enabled as well.
This trial is not for FSD beta, as that’s currently only available in the United States (Canada is next). It’s unclear when FSD beta will ever hit Europe, which CEO Elon Musk as pegged will be at the hands of EU regulators.
How to check if your new Tesla has the Full Self-Driving trial? You can log into your Tesla account online and go to your car details. It will show “Full Self-Driving Capability” under Specs:
According to Raffael, their Model 3 was ordered on November 18, built on November 19 and delivered on December 30, 2020. The Model 3 is running software 2020.48.30.
Following the end of 3-month FSD trials, it is speculated Tesla will then launch its FSD subscription plans, as confirmed previously by Elon Musk.
