Hot Wheels announced its radio-controlled Tesla Cybertruck back in February, debuting two different models in 1:10 and 1:64 sizes. The launch for the 1:10 Cybertruck was expected to ship in December 2020, but that has now been delayed.

According to Reddit, Hot Wheels has emailed out customers to say the 1:10 Cybertruck has been delayed to May 2021, due to COVID-19.

The email reads, “We’re sorry to report that shipments of this item have been delayed due to unexpected challenges in this increasingly unpredictable year. Our team is working diligently to get this item to you as soon as possible. We know how eager you are to receive your 1:10 Hot Wheels® R/C Cybertruck(s).”

Hot Wheels says in order to fulfill orders for the backorder date, “we need you to confirm that you still want to receive your Cybertruck(s). You’re receiving this email because the FTC requires us to get your confirmation to hold your order when a delay will be more than 30 days beyond the original intended ship date. You must contact us to confirm your order before this new ship date to avoid cancellation: May 1, 2021.”

The Tesla Cybertruck Hot Wheels has functioning headlights and taillights, to go with all-wheel drive and Chill and Sport modes. There’s the tonneau “vault” cover, along with a telescopic tailgate. There’s also a reusable cracked window vinyl sticker, allowing for humorous reminiscing of Tesla’s ‘failed’ demo.

The 1:10 Cybertruck from Hot Wheels is $399.99 USD and is sold out, as it’s in limited production. The 1:64 Cybertruck is more affordable at $19.99 USD, and is also sold out.
