We’ve seen ongoing improvements with Tesla’s Full Self-Driving beta, and the latest video demo showcases the Autopilot software driving from San Francisco to Los Angeles in California.
The video from Whole Mars Catalog (Omar Qazi) is a Tesla running FSD beta 2020.44.10.2.
“Driving from San Francisco to Los Angeles with 5 disengagements,” explains Whole Mars Catalog. “But 2 were accidental and 1 was just making sure to avoid a cone in the middle of the highway…so I think if you got lucky you could do a cross-California drive with 0 disengagements.”
The nearly 15-minute video is a condensed version of the trip, which normally takes about 6 hours for the 382 mile journey. Along the way, Whole Mars Catalog shows when disengagements were made and why. They’re mostly for safety reasons to ensure no accidents would have occurred.
Overall, Whole Mars Catalog says he hopes to do the same trip with zero disengagements and also capture it on camera.
Yesterday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Full Self-Driving beta 5 will be available for download “in a few days” for beta testers, emphasizing “improvement should be significant.”
