Tesla FSD Beta: Folding Mirrors on Narrow Street; Slowing for Speed Bumps [VIDEOS]
More Tesla Full Self-Driving beta videos are here, showing new behaviours and skills of the Neural Net.
Tesla owner Kim Paquette from Newport, Rhode Island, has been sharing various videos of FSD beta at work. She says videos were filmed on an iPhone 8 mounted to the glass roof of her Tesla.
Some new videos show how FSD beta is able to slow for speed bumps, avoid a cyclist and also navigate a tricky intersection without a lead car, plus also automatically fold side mirrors when travelling down a narrow one-way road.
The video below shared by Kim on Tuesday shows her Model 3 slowing down on a narrow one-way road, then automatically folding the side mirrors to provide more room for the vehicle to pass by. Kim says FSD beta still struggles for her on left turns and also stopping too far back from stop signs:
Where #FSDBeta is still struggling for me – tight left turns, and stopping far back from line at 🛑.
New behavior – mirrors folded in automatically on very narrow one way street with parallel parked cars. 😎 #FSD #tesla #model3 pic.twitter.com/M2DI4r8Y1Z

Another video shared by Kim today also shows how FSD beta is able to slow down for speed bumps, even those that are imperceptible she says, which leads her to believe these bumps may be part of maps:

The following clips shows how FSD beta is able to swerve somewhat and avoid a cyclist crossing the road, prior to slowing down for a jaywalker:
Cobblestones so rough ride – but slowed for jaywalker, then slowed and got over for cyclist making illegal maneuver. 😎 #FSDBeta #FSD #tesla #model3 pic.twitter.com/U8OGClbQFx

And here’s one more video of FSD beta able to navigate a tricky intersection for Kim’s Tesla, this time without a lead vehicle:
Success! #FSDBeta navigated this tricky intersection with no lead car! 😎🤓 #FSD #tesla #Model3 pic.twitter.com/6Iulxvd6fD

It’s clear FSD beta is learning and improving as testers continue to provide feedback to the Neural Net and it trains and remembers how it should handle tricky situations.
Tesla continues to roll out FSD beta to more owners but so far we have yet to see the beta reach any vehicles outside of the United States yet (Canada remains waiting).
