Electrify Canada Adding Canopies to Charging Stations

Volkswagen’s Electrify Canada charging network will soon get overhead coverings at at “many” of its charging stations, to protect customers from Canadian weather such as rain, snow or even heat.
These aluminum canopies will also have overhead lighting to improve nighttime charging as well. The first canopy has been installed at the Canadian Tire in Agincourt, Ontario.
Electrify Canada says the “majority” of charging stations will get canopies, with a goal of extending overhead covers to all of its stations.
“Electrify Canada already provides a quick and convenient way to charge up your EV, and we believe the installation of these new canopies will further enhance the charging experience at our stations,” said Robert Barrosa, chief operating officer, Electrify Canada, in a statement. “While we can’t control the weather, we can help the drivers using our chargers feel sheltered and protected from whatever Mother Nature throws at them.”
Electrify Canada charging stations have at least four chargers with power levels up to 350kW rates, the fastest in Canada (Tesla’s V3 Superchargers top out at 250kW in comparison).
The first phase of charger expansions will see 32 locations created, for a total of 128 chargers across four provinces.
