Lucid Air Beats Tesla’s Record Time at Laguna Seca [VIDEO]
A brand new electric vehicle (EV) racetrack record has just been set.
In a recent video released by YouTube EV channel The Kilowatts and shared on Twitter by Unplugged Performance, a Lucid Air is shown beating the Tesla-held record at the Laguna Seca racetrack. The previous record on the Laguna Seca track was earned by Randy Pobst in a Tesla Performance Model 3 in August.
While the Lucid Air’s official times have not yet been released, The Kilowatts posted on their Twitter page having seen a record-breaking 1:33 lap that “looked like a walk in the park.”
The video is simply raw footage, as The Kilowatts shared that they were primarily at the track that day to do some photography. Still, seeing the 1:33 lap in the video is pretty impressive, even if it isn’t perfectly shot or edited.
It’s worthwhile simply watching the Lucid Air zip around – the new vehicle was released to the public earlier this month, and it’s expected to give Tesla a run for their money. Still, the Air is only the first release for Lucid Motors, and they have a long way to go if they’re going to announce as many different cars like Tesla.
Lucid has now beaten our Laguna Seca record. We are excited to see what Lucid’s final times are. Whatever best lap time they post will be our next target to beat at Laguna Seca! Let the games begin! https://t.co/sDkTQQR6a9

While we eagerly await the officially-posted times for this new car’s take on Laguna Seca, it’s safe to say that the next few years are going to be exciting times in the EV world.
The Lucid Air is targeting the luxury EV segment and has not hit production yet, slated to debut in 2021.
