Tesla “Definitely Not” Developing Smartwatch Says Elon Musk, Crushing Rumor
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has crushed a rumor that the company was working with partners to develop a smartwatch.
Responding to CleanTechnica on Twitter, Musk said, “Definitely not. Smartwatches & phones are yesterday’s technology, Neuralinks are the future.”
The original story from cited Idahoreporter and the CEO of Huami Technology, claiming Tesla was set to release a smartwatch this month:
It seems Tesla will soon have an official smartwatch. But the development will not be independent – it will be released as part of a joint project between Tesla (TSLA) and Huami (NYSE:HMI). The teaser of the device was published online by the well known car enthusiast and prior to this Huami Technology founder and CEO Huang Wang shared the news via his Weibo account. He shared the official announcement of the public smartwatch, and also stated that the date of the new product release is September 15 .
Definitely not. Smartwatches & phones are yesterday’s technology, Neuralinks are the future.

Previous rumors claimed Tesla might be building a smartwatch, but after seeing Musk’s Neuralink update presentation, he is indeed correct smartphones and smartphone watches are “yesterday’s technology”.
Back in August, another rumor claimed Tesla was working with Xplora to create a smartwatch.
With Apple dominating smartwatch sales, it would make no sense for Tesla to create its own wearable to compete. Let’s just implant a chip into our brains instead and allow our thoughts to summon our Tesla instead, right?
