New Tesla Promo Highlights the Glass Roof in Model Y [VIDEO]
Tesla shared a new promo spot today from its Twitter account, titled “Looking up in Model Y”.
The 39-second clip shows the company’s newest Model Y compact SUV driving, but from the point of view of someone sitting in the rear seat, showing off the expansive panoramic glass roof in the vehicle.

When it comes to roof strength, Tesla is no stranger to making extremely safe vehicles. The Model 3 and its glass room was able to withstand beyond 20,000 pounds of force in testing by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), garnering a top safety pick+ award last fall.
As Tesla explained it, “The Institute’s results also demonstrate the exceptional strength of Model 3’s all-glass roof, which is supported by a very strong metal body structure and helps protect occupants in roll-over crashes. During testing, the car’s roof was able to successfully resist more than 20,000 pounds of force – that’s more than if we placed five Model 3s on top of the car’s roof at once. And, the roof earned a higher strength-to-weight ratio score than any other fully electric vehicle that IIHS has ever tested.”
While safety testing of the Model Y has not been published yet, the latter contains the newest glass roof from Tesla and is expected to match or exceed the safety standards of the Model 3.
Tesla started delivering its Model Y in the United States back in March, while eventually expanded deliveries to Canada in June.
