Watch: Tesla Gigafactory Texas Construction Update from July 26 via Drone [VIDEO]
Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the company would be building its fifth Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, as announced during the recent second-quarter earnings call.
Musk said at the time work was already underway on the site near the Colorado River, and drone pilots have already descended onto the area, sharing footage of construction on the site.
Jeff Roberts shared a video taken yesterday on Sunday, July 26, 2020, showing some more progress at the site as land continues to be cleared.
“Today was a beautiful day on the [heels] of a storm coming thru Texas but that did not affect work at all on Tesla’s Gigafactory 5! A bit of rain and wind at the end of the video ended it but overall progress looks amazing,” said Roberts.
Roberts filmed the construction footage with his DJI Mavic Air 2 and also used his iPhone 11 Pro Max as part of the control setup.
Musk said the Gigafactory in Austin would be an “ecological paradise”, adding there would be a boardwalk with cycling and hiking trails, open to the public and not just for Tesla. This new Gigafactory will enable Tesla to serve the east coast of the United States with future Model 3 and Model Y deliveries.
