Tesla’s Names New Production Head at Fremont Factory
CEO of Tesla Inc. Elon Musk appointed a new head of production at the electric vehicle maker’s Fremont, California plant. A subject of much discussion recently, Tesla’s Fremont factory reopened for production yesterday despite the local government’s regulations. However, with a new head of operations, Tesla continues full steam ahead.
The former director of paint operations for Tesla Inc., Richard Miller, now serves as the overall head of Tesla production in the Fremont, California factory. An internal email sent to Tesla employees reads, “Due to excellent performance as head of paint operations in Fremont, Richard Miller is hereby promoted to overall head of Fremont Production. Congratulations!”
While it’s unclear who will serve as director of paint operations at this stage, Miller replaced Jatinder Dhilon, who served as the electric vehicle maker’s manufacturing director. With such uncertain times ahead for Tesla, a change in production delegation may prove quite fruitful. As the company returns to work, many are curious about Tesla’s place in California, and the electric vehicle market at large.
The company has many large milestones on the horizon. Battery Day is quickly approaching. In China, Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory is working through routine maintenance pending its return to work as well.
