Tutorial: How to Install Child Safety Seats in the Tesla Model Y
The Tesla Model Y is quite a diverse vehicle. As a family-centered electric SUV, it may be logical to assume that many drivers want to install child safety seats. In this week’s tutorial, we’ll take a look at how to do so. As always, we’ll be using the Tesla Model Y Owner’s Manual as a guide.
Beginning on page 34, let’s take a look at how to choose a child safety seat. First and foremost, all children under age 12 should ride in second and third row seats, according to the manual. Choosing the right seat depends both on the child’s age and weight. Consult the chart on page 36 for more information.
While there are two different methods for installing child safety seats, we’re going to focus on installing seatbelt retained child seats.
- Put the child safety seat in the desired seat of the vehicle. Next, fully extend the seat belt.
- Buckle the seat belt in line with the instructions provided by the child safety seat manufacturer.
- If there’s an upper tether on the seat, be sure to attach it to the back of the seat.
Always make sure that the seat you’ve chosen is appropriate for the age and weight of the child. You should also be sure that you’re adjusting the seat harnesses before each and every trip. To find more information on installing different types of child safety seats, consult page 36 of the Tesla Model Y Owner’s Manual.
