Tesla Over the Air Update Increases Model S and Model X Performance

A new over the air (OTA) software update brings enhanced performance to both the Tesla Model X and the Model S. As discussed, the new Cheetah Mode gives drivers the ability to lower the front end of their vehicle in order to achieve quicker launch times. But that’s not the only feature this new update boasts.

The new update also brings a substantial peak power increase for the Model X and Model S. Drivers can also expect increased high-speed power. These enhancements are noticeable once the vehicle reaches 80 mph or 128 kph. As Tesla meant both of these models to function as their sports/performance vehicles, it’s no surprise that over the air updates prioritize such milestones in regards to speed.

There is a lot of talk about some of the improvements to the thermal performance of the vehicles with the new update as well. Added thermal endurance makes it so drivers can conserve more power when using demanding settings such as those found in Ludicrous Mode. In addition to the inclusion of Cheetah Mode, and several additions to drivers’ ability to view dashcam footage and Sentry Mode, the new software update does not disappoint. In conjunction with the update, Tesla also recently made the tow hitch option available for Model Y buyers.
