Tesla Completes Record March Sales in China

:

With many challenges facing electric vehicle manufacturers and the world at large, Tesla managed to report record March sales in China last month. Despite fears of the coronavirus outbreak and a host of complications caused by supply chain interruptions, sales for Tesla remained strong. According to a recent piece reported by Yahoo! Finance, “The electric vehicle maker sold a total of 10,160 units in the world’s hottest car market in March, as per the China Passenger Car Association.”

While these numbers may not be surprising under usual conditions, the challenges of a global pandemic make Tesla’s sales performance in China an astounding feat. This positive movement compounds with the fact that Tesla only began producing vehicles in China a few months prior to breaking the record in March. Increased production of the Tesla Model 3 in Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory allowed for tremendous improvements in the company’s Chinese sales.

Of course, Tesla isn’t out of the weeds yet. Meanwhile, in North America, Tesla shut down its production factory in Fremont, California. They’ve also cut some contractors in Nevada after an employee tested positive for coronavirus. In any case, the future looks bright for Tesla in Asia and elsewhere. The company continues to deliver the new Model Y using contact-less deliveries. They’ve also put several safety protocols in place to prevent the spread of the virus among employees.
