Tesla App 4.62.5 Code Hints at AI Chat and License Scanning
Tesla app 4.62.5 code points to AI-assisted messaging, in-app driver’s license scanning and more targeted Phone Key troubleshooting.

Tesla’s iPhone app could make identity checks and support conversations easier, with a teardown of version 4.62.5 pointing to in-app driver’s license scanning, AI-assisted messaging and more specific Phone Key troubleshooting.
The findings come from Tesla App Updates (iOS), the independent tracker behind @Tesla_App_iOS, which published its analysis on November 6. These are discoveries in app code, not confirmation that every feature is available to owners.
The tracker’s separate release notice lists Tesla’s changelog as simply: “This release contains minor fixes and improvements.” Its deeper analysis suggests work on several more substantial changes underneath.

For driver’s licenses, references including RegistrationDLExtractScreen point to photographing the front and back of an ID within the app, extracting information and confirming a residence address. That suggests a more integrated verification process, although the teardown does not establish which registration or ownership tasks would support it.
The messaging changes include an AI_BOT alongside human-agent chat, plus voice input, file attachments and thumbs-up or thumbs-down feedback. The code does not identify the AI provider or establish when owners might see this interface.
Phone Key troubleshooting looks more focused, too. The tracker describes instructions for a Bluetooth bonding mismatch that would identify the particular key to remove in phone settings before pairing again, rather than leave owners with generic reconnect advice.
Other findings include Smart Breaker configuration, home energy-flow graphics, vehicle selection for FSD trials and referral rewards, and native Shop returns and trade-in request handling. Selecting a specific car could be especially useful for households with several Teslas on one account, if the reward-selection flow becomes available.
The same tracker previously found Robotaxi ride-home references and Smart Breaker groundwork in app 4.60.5. Its subsequent 4.61.0 analysis highlighted more Energy-related code, including Optimus references. This latest batch continues that pattern of spotting work before Tesla spells it out publicly.
For now, installing 4.62.5 should not be taken as a guarantee that these tools will appear. The findings do not confirm supported regions, account eligibility or activation dates.
