Tesla Semi Just Got Megawatt Chargers at the Port of Long Beach

Forum Mobility cut the ribbon November 5 on two v4 Megawatt Charging Standard chargers at FM Harbor, its flagship electric truck depot in the Port of Long Beach gateway.
The event featured inaugural charge sessions on a customer’s new production-model Tesla Semi. Forum said the stalls are the first v4 MCS chargers compatible with the production Semi in that Long Beach port gateway. MCS can recover up to 60% of range in about 30 minutes, which the company frames as a fueling stop that does not break carrier schedules.
“We can fuel with electrons 40% cheaper than diesel, and these are the first of 30 megawatts of MCS chargers we have coming online in the coming months,” said Matt LeDucq, CEO and co-founder of Forum Mobility. “We are providing a platform for our customers to go further, charge faster, and reduce their cost per mile in a challenging freight environment.”
That Long Beach cutover sits on top of Forum’s September plan to break ground on four California heavy-duty depots with Tesla Megacharging at three of them. The firm says it is still building another 30 MW across Rancho Dominguez, Ontario, and two Oakland sites, and is lining up a next tranche covering more of the Inland Empire and Central Valley plus Las Vegas, Phoenix, Houston, Dallas, Seattle/Tacoma, and Chicago.
“Long range electric trucks and ultra-fast charging is the next step in zero emission freight,” said Jim Gillis, President of the Pacific Division at IMC Logistics, which partnered on putting the kit to work. “Together, we are delivering lower costs, and lower emissions.”
Forum claims 25 carriers with contracted capacity, customer reservations for more than 330 Tesla Semis, and over 40 MW of CCS and MCS charging online or under construction. The San Francisco-based firm sells depot charging plus electric truck leases; more detail sits at forummobility.com.
Port-adjacent megawatt stalls matter because production Semis are finally rolling into customer fleets. Whether the next 30 MW lands on Forum’s timeline is the open question for Southern California freight.
