Cybercab Sightings Outside Austin Geofence Jump to 33 a Week

Chart of weekly Cybercab sightings on southwest Austin traffic cameras outside Tesla robotaxi boundary, rising from 1 to 33

Chart: Robotaxi Tracker

Cybercab traffic outside Tesla’s Austin robotaxi service area is climbing, with southwest cameras logging 33 sightings last week after just one the week of September 28, according to Robotaxi Tracker counts that Austin tracker Ethan McKanna highlighted Sunday.

McKanna said the ramp showed up on cameras in both south and north Austin over the past couple of weeks.

Robotaxi Tracker’s southwest chart covers 32 cameras outside the current Tesla boundary and found 21 that caught at least one Cybercab. Weekly totals rose from 1 between September 28 and October 4 to 9, then 23, and 33 for the week of October 26 through November 1. The tracker notes those are sightings, not unique vehicles, and that the boundary map reflects the service area as of October 23.

North of the fence, the same project said engineering Cybercab detections rose from zero a week in early October to 27 last week along Anderson Mill, Parmer, Lakeline, and Highway 620.

Tesla has not posted a public note confirming a paid-service expansion into those corridors. Austin riders already hail Cybercabs inside the existing zone, where the Texas robotaxi roster recently pushed past 1,000 authorized vehicles and where late rides have stretched toward 1 AM around Circuit of the Americas.

Robotaxi Tracker labeled the northern runs as engineering vehicles, and Tesla has not said when, or whether, those corridors will open to paying riders. Fans who want a closer look at the tech can explore a new Tesla in the meantime.

Have you spotted a Cybercab outside the Austin robotaxi map this week?
