Latvia Approves Tesla’s Supervised FSD as Riga Test Drives Begin

Tesla’s supervised FSD is now giving rides on Latvian roads, less than a week after the country approved the system on October 26.
Ben Geskin said on Saturday that Tesla invited him to be one of the first people in Latvia to try Tesla Assisted Driving, the European name for FSD (Supervised). He said public test drives have already started at Tesla’s store in the Spice shopping center in Riga, so anyone can book one.
Geskin spent about an hour behind the wheel. He picked a destination on the screen, tapped to go, and the car pulled out of its parking space and drove the whole route while he supervised.
Along the way, the car dealt with awkwardly parked cars, a cyclist coming toward them and spots where it had to make room for another car to pass. “The Tesla handled all of it,” he wrote, adding that it was “a strange, slightly nerve-racking, but incredibly cool feeling” to have his hands off the wheel.
He was also clear that the driver stays in charge. You still need to watch the road and be ready to take over, and he said even looking at the center screen too long earned him a reminder to keep his eyes ahead.
According to Geskin, the software rollout to eligible customer cars is coming soon, and the subscription will cost €99 a month. Tesla Europe said the same thing on approval day, promising only that the “rollout begins soon.”
Latvia was the 10th European country to clear the system, following Baltic neighbors Lithuania and Estonia. Every approval so far builds on the Dutch authority RDW’s April decision, the same path that brought Slovakia on board October 16. Tesla has also been sweetening deals on FSD-ready cars across Europe while an EU-wide vote isn’t expected before December.
Would you book a supervised FSD test drive in Riga before it reaches your own car?
