CBI, a Quebec-based financing and warranty provider, is ending new extended warranties for Tesla vehicles in Canada after October 31, according to an email the company sent to customers.

Denis, a Tesla Model Y owner, shared the notice in a Canadian Tesla owners group on Facebook. CBI said its partner, Garantie Avantage Plus, decided to withdraw from the Tesla extended warranty program. The change applies only to Tesla. Other automakers are not affected.

CEO Manuel Dussault signed the note for the CBI team. The firm partners with the Tesla owners clubs in Quebec and Ontario.

Owners who want coverage have until October 31, 2026, inclusive, to buy, CBI wrote, adding that staff were available Friday and Saturday. “Effective November 1, 2026, no new warranty claims for Tesla vehicles will be accepted under this program,” the email said.

Already purchased policies stay intact. “All warranties that have been purchased and are currently in effect will continue to be honored in full, in accordance with the terms of the contract, until their expiration date,” CBI told customers.

Another owner in the same thread said they got a CBI quote paid upfront with unlimited kilometers: 60 months for $3,200 plus tax, 48 months for $2,900, 36 months for $2,700, and 24 months for $2,500. They put Tesla’s month-to-month extended service at about $90 a month all in, so 36 months would run about $3,240 before deductibles and coverage differences. That quote is one owner’s report, not a published CBI rate card, and prices can vary by vehicle.

A third owner said a CBI rep told them the five-year term is only for cars under 120,000 km. Above that, the longest term is three years, and above 140,000 km it drops to two years, with unlimited kilometers on every term. That is what the owner says the rep told them, not a confirmed policy sheet.

Shoppers racing the October 31 deadline should verify eligibility, terms and pricing with CBI themselves. These details come from the customer email and owner reports in the Facebook thread.

For American readers, CBI is a third-party warranty seller, not Tesla. Garantie Avantage Plus is the Quebec underwriter behind the policies. Tesla’s factory coverage still applies on eligible cars: the Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty runs four years or 80,000 km, and the Battery and Drive Unit Limited Warranty runs eight years with mileage caps that vary by model, per Tesla’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty for Canada.

Tesla also sells its own monthly Extended Service Agreement in Canada, a separate path from CBI that owners can review in the Tesla app. The company first rolled out a Vehicle Extended Service Agreement for Canada in 2023 and later added a High Voltage Battery and Drive Unit Extended Service Agreement for Model 3 and Model Y. A seven-year warranty on costly propulsion parts for 2026 models sits on top of the factory stack for newer cars.

Club Tesla Quebec’s member benefits page already labels the CBI Avantage Plus offer as no longer available, which lines up with the shutdown notice even if CBI’s marketing pages still describe Tesla coverage.

If you were waiting on a third-party Tesla warranty in Canada, is October 31 enough time to decide?
