Tesla has told Cybertruck reservation holders in Australia and New Zealand that the electric pickup won’t be coming to either country after all. The news arrived Thursday in an email titled “Important Update to Your Cybertruck Reservation,” according to emails shared on X by EVStraya and Sawyer Merritt.

“After careful consideration, plans to produce Cybertruck for Australia and New Zealand have been discontinued,” the email reads. Affected reservations are being canceled, and customers will get a full refund for any payments made. A separate email with refund details is due the same day, and once customers confirm that information, the company says refunds will be processed within 30 days.

To soften the blow, reservation holders are being offered a complimentary one-year Full Self-Driving (Supervised) subscription when they order a new Model 3 or Model Y, and the email says it can be combined with current limited-time offers. It also notes the subscription gets applied to a new order tied to the same email address and activated after delivery. Both EVStraya and Merritt suggested buyers need to order by the end of the year to qualify, although the footnotes spelling out the exact terms weren’t visible in the screenshots shared.

Australian and New Zealand fans have been waiting on the Cybertruck since reservations opened worldwide after the truck’s November 2019 unveiling. Both countries drive on the left, and so far Tesla has only built the stainless steel pickup in left-hand drive.

Outside North America, the truck’s rollout has instead focused on left-hand-drive markets, including the Middle East, where orders opened in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE in October 2025. Back in the U.S., demand has cooled, with Cybertruck sales falling nearly 50% in 2025.

For Tesla shoppers Down Under, the bigger story this year has been on the SUV side, with the six- and seven-seat Model Y L slated for Australia and New Zealand.
