Elon Says Digital Optimus Is Halfway Through Diablo

Elon Musk says Digital Optimus, the AI agent Tesla and SpaceXAI are building to use computers like a person, can now get about halfway through the Diablo campaign just by watching the screen.
Musk shared the progress early Saturday in a reply on X, and said fast games are going well too. “Skill at Counter-Strike and other fast games is good too,” he wrote, adding that League is also in training.
We’re making interesting progress here.
Digital Optimus can play about halfway through the Diablo campaign so far just by looking at the screen like a human.

League is also in training.
Goal is to generalize across all games.

The stated goal is bigger than any one title. “Goal is to generalize across all games,” Musk said.
Digital Optimus borrows its name from Tesla’s humanoid robot, but it lives entirely on a computer. Musk unveiled it in March as part of the Macrohard project, a system that watches the last five seconds of real-time screen video and responds with keyboard and mouse actions.
Musk described it then as a two-part mind. Digital Optimus handles the fast, instinctive reactions, while Grok acts as the “master conductor/navigator” deciding what to do next. He said it would run mostly on Tesla’s AI4 computer, the same chip in Tesla vehicles, which costs about $650 US.
That is why games make sense as a test. Diablo is a long campaign with menus, quests and combat, and Counter-Strike rewards split-second reactions. An agent that only sees pixels has to handle both without any special access to the game.
Musk didn’t share video, a release date or any scores, and he didn’t say which Diablo game or which League title he meant. Neither Tesla nor SpaceXAI has posted about the gaming results yet.
If an AI can grind through half of Diablo on its own, plenty of gamers will be wondering when they can hand it the boring parts.
