Tesla Scales Austin Cybercab Fleet to 300+ [Update]

Tesla’s Robotaxi account says more than 300 Cybercabs are now serving Austin, an eightfold jump in the 30 days since paid rides began.
Update: Tesla AI chief Ashok Elluswamy quote-posted the announcement with a hint at what’s next, writing that Cybercabs are “everywhere in Austin now. Dallas soon.” He didn’t give a date. Tesla already runs Model Y Robotaxis in Dallas, and dozens of Cybercabs were spotted lined up at the Dallas Robotaxi lot earlier this week.
The official Robotaxi account posted the update Saturday afternoon, and Tesla’s main X account amplified it within minutes. “One month after launch, we’ve scaled to 300+ Cybercabs serving Austin – an 8x increase in 30 days,” the post read, alongside a short video of gold Cybercabs on Austin streets.
Cybercab is Tesla’s purpose-built robotaxi. It seats two and has no steering wheel or pedals. Tesla started carrying paying public riders in the cars in Texas in early September, after listing the first batches on the state’s automated vehicle registry.
The 300-plus figure is the first time Tesla has put an official serving-Austin count this high in public. Earlier this month, Texas registration records showed the authorized Cybercab count climbing from 169 to 319 after a batch of 150 new VINs hit the books, and Tesla teased a wider release with a “Floodgates are opening” post. Serving riders and sitting on a state registry are not the same thing, so Saturday’s post is the company’s own claim about cars actually in the Austin fleet.
What Tesla has not said is whether those 300-plus Cybercabs are all unsupervised, how many still carry a safety monitor, or whether wait times and service hours have changed with the bigger fleet. Robotaxi hours in Austin already run until 11 p.m. The company has also not said when Cybercabs will start carrying Dallas riders, who still get Model Ys for now.
For Austin riders, the official math is simple: one month in, the Cybercab count on the road is up roughly eight times.
