Starlink says existing customers and the friends they sign up will each get $100 in cash or service credit, or CA$140 in Canada, a bigger referral reward the SpaceX-owned satellite internet provider says is live in most countries where it sells service.

The company announced the change on X just before 10 a.m. PT on Thursday, writing that “both you AND your friend receive $100” and adding that rewards vary by market. If you have been thinking about switching, you can order through our Starlink referral link to qualify for the new-customer reward. We also receive a referral reward if you sign up through it.

The video attached to the post walks through a new “Refer Starlink” screen in the app that tracks lifetime earnings and people referred, with a card reading “You and your friend each get $100” and a button to share a personal link with contacts. The demo account shows six referrals and $600 earned.

Starlink is SpaceX’s satellite internet service, beamed down from thousands of satellites in low Earth orbit to a dish at the customer’s home. In Canada, Starlink’s site currently lists Residential plans at CA$75 a month for 100 Mbps, CA$115 for 200 Mbps and CA$150 for Residential Max, with no upfront hardware cost in select areas.

Starlink’s previous referral reward was a single free month of service for both sides, which the company offered when it opened referrals to all 150 of its markets in October 2025.

Starlink’s support pages say the program is open to customers on an active Residential or Roam plan, and the friend has to be a brand-new Starlink customer, since existing and returning customers don’t qualify. The new subscriber must pick an eligible plan, from Residential Lite through Residential Max, or Roam 100GB, 300GB or Unlimited.

Rewards only issue when the new customer orders directly on starlink.com through an existing customer’s referral link, such as this one, and kits bought from retailers, resellers or through an account transfer are excluded. Starlink’s referral terms add that the new subscriber has to activate service at an address in the same country as the person who referred them.

The new customer pays for the first month before anyone gets paid, and Starlink issues the rewards once that account has stayed subscribed for two full monthly billing cycles. Rewards default to a service credit taken off the next bill, but in most countries either person can switch to cash sent to a bank account, and that choice locks in when the reward pays out. Each referral pays once, and SpaceX says it can change or end the program with 30 days’ notice.

In Canada, the referral screen in the Starlink app shows a reward of CA$140 for each side, even though Starlink’s Canadian referral and legal pages don’t list a figure. Its support page only says the reward “depends on the country they signed up in,” uses $100 in the U.S. as its example, and pays out in local currency. What Starlink still hasn’t spelled out is which countries are limited to service credit, or whether Canadians can take the CA$140 as cash rather than a bill credit.

The bigger payout lands in the middle of a run of aggressive Starlink promotions, from a 50% price cut for neighbours of Starbase to free Mini rentals for more Residential customers. Starlink’s own referral page leans on word of mouth too, quoting customers in rural Manitoba and Alberta who say they switched after a coworker or family member recommended it.
