Tesla AI lead Ashok Elluswamy said Robotaxi could run around the clock in about a month, tying 24/7 Cybercab availability to the next piece of tech on Tesla’s v15 plan.
Elluswamy was answering a rider who wanted Cybercab trips all night. “Next month or so,” he wrote. “The next tech to merge on the v15 plan will enable it.” He did not name the exact feature, publish a city list, or say whether the change would cover Model Y Robotaxis and Cybercabs at the same time.
The comment matters because Tesla’s paid Robotaxi service has been daytime-bounded in practice, while Cybercab just entered public Austin rides after the September 3 launch event. Moving to overnight service would stretch utilization on a fleet that still numbers in the dozens of Cybercabs on Texas books and needs cheap overnight charging to make the economics work.
That lines up with the rest of launch week. Public Cybercab rides were set for Friday at 5:00 p.m. Central Time, Tesla published a Rider Guide covering stops and cabin cameras, and Supercharging staff said the company is using overnight public Superchargers and building dedicated Robotaxi sites. Overnight hours would put that charging plan to work when passenger demand on public stalls is lowest.
