Tesla Cybercab
Tesla has published an official Cybercab Rider Guide that explains how passengers will use its purpose-built robotaxi, from boarding and cabin controls to emergency stops and support.
The North America guide, dated September 3, 2026 on Tesla’s Robotaxi rider-guide pages, confirms Cybercab has two seats and is not equipped with a steering wheel, accelerator pedal, or brake pedal. Riders book through the Robotaxi app, manage the trip on the central touchscreen, and rely on automatic doors that open when Cybercab detects the ride requester’s phone. The rear trunk holds 20.2 cubic feet of storage.
Safety instructions get the most detail. A physical Stop button between the dome lights starts an immediate pull-over request, ends the ride, and connects the passenger with Robotaxi Support. Riders can also touch Pull Over on the touchscreen or request a stop in the app; Tesla says that can take longer on a highway. If a rider is in imminent danger or the vehicle does not stop after a pull-over request, fully pulling the mechanical door release ends the trip and tells Cybercab to stop in its lane as soon as safely possible, or pull over at highway speeds.
A cabin camera by the dome lights is used during active rides for occupancy and emergency assistance, and after trips it can check that the vehicle is clean and no lost items were left behind. Riders can also opt in to share cabin-camera footage with Tesla. Minors under 13 are not allowed in Cybercab for now.
The guide lands alongside Tesla’s Austin Cybercab launch window and does not by itself say when general riders will be able to book a Cybercab on the live network.
