Tesla’s Robotaxi app has updated its Terms of Service so a Robotaxi now means both Model Y Robotaxis and Cybercabs, a wording change that landed in the rider agreement the same week Tesla listed 420 vehicles on Texas’s automated-vehicle registry, including 45 Cybercabs.

The terms still say the vehicle is driverless and the rider will not be able to drive it, that you have to be present for the whole ride you request, and that Tesla can charge for damage, litter, or soiling and may cancel rides or suspend accounts. Fees show in U.S. dollars in the app and can include tolls, airport fees, and regulatory charges, with the rider authorizing Tesla to bill the saved payment method.
The bigger split is age. You have to be 18 to request a ride or ride alone. On a Model Y Robotaxi, kids under 8 are not allowed, and ages 8 to 17 can only ride with the adult who booked, which matches Tesla’s earlier family-friendly rider rules. On a Cybercab Robotaxi, the floor is higher: no one under 13, and 13 to 17 only with that same accompanying adult. The adult has to stay for the full trip, be a parent or guardian or have their consent, and handle car seats or boosters where state law requires them. The terms also tell riders to keep the seat back reclined less than 35 degrees from vertical, feet on the floor, belt low and tight across the hips.
Tesla did not post the rewrite on its own channels, so the change is the app text, not a launch blog. It also does not name an FSD version for the Robotaxi fleet. The Cybercab language sitting in the live terms is the company treating purpose-built cabs as part of the same Robotaxi service riders already tap in Austin, not a separate app.
