SpaceX has brought back a popular perk for its highest-tier satellite internet plan. New subscribers to the Starlink Residential Max tier can once again receive an optional Starlink Mini kit rental at no additional monthly hardware cost, along with half-off pricing for portable Roam service plans.

According to a report by PCMag, the benefit recently reappeared on Starlink’s website for customers in Canada and the United States. SpaceX had originally removed the free rental option in June, forcing new subscribers to pay extra for hardware or buy the compact dish outright.

The Residential Max package costs $130 US per month. Under the restored promotion, account holders who keep their main home line active receive an email link within a week to claim the secondary portable dish.

The compact Starlink Mini is designed for travel, camping, and remote work on the go. While it can be bought outright for $249 US, the restored rental option allows home users to run a portable setup alongside their main residential dish without buying a second device.

Starlink has also continued to waive the $10 monthly kit rental fee on its primary home hardware that was briefly introduced earlier this summer.

Will you be taking advantage of the restored Starlink Mini rental perk?
