Tesla Robotaxi Fleet Surges 50% with Expansion in Texas
Tesla is quietly scaling up its autonomous vehicle ambitions in the Lone Star State, with a sudden influx of newly registered vehicles indicating that the automaker is gearing up for a much larger testing footprint.
According to data compiled by the Texas Autonomous Vehicle Tracker, Tesla recently added 58 Model Y SUVs to its active Robotaxi fleet. This sudden spike represents a massive 50 percent expansion, bringing the total number of registered test vehicles in Texas to 175.
Local enthusiasts with the Dallas Tesla Club double-checked the state DMV registry to verify the sudden jump in vehicle identification numbers. The registry confirmed the additions, proving that the rapid uptick in the online tracker is completely accurate.
While Tesla has not yet detailed exactly which Texas cities will host these new vehicles, the rapid expansion suggests that public trials could be expanding soon. Our team is keeping a close eye on local streets to spot these new Model Ys as they begin driving.
